Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh announced on Saturday the initiation of magisterial inquiries into the recent incidents that led to the loss of lives in Churachandpur.
Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh announced on Saturday the initiation of magisterial inquiries into the recent incidents that led to the loss of lives in Churachandpur, ‘attempts at arms snatching’ at the Manipur Police Training College (MPTC), Pangei, and the 5th IRB headquarters in Chingarel, Imphal East district.
CM Singh condemned the incidents “in the strongest terms” during a press conference at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Saturday night.
He said that magisterial inquiries would be conducted to thoroughly investigate the events and establish accountability.
“Anyone found guilty of involvement will face legal action,” the Manipur Chief Minister said.
Singh also highlighted the initiation of legal proceedings against an individual who threatened the SP of Churachandpur on social media. He emphasized the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards such threats directed at law enforcement agencies and officials.
Responding to a reporter’s query about the 24-hour ultimatum issued to the SP by the Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF), Singh asserted that the government will not tolerate threats against authorities.
He reiterated that the State had already suspended seven personnel in connection with the incidents at MPTC and Chingarel.
