N Biren Singh expressed serious concern that the future generation in the State will be destroyed by drugs
On Tuesday Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh reiterated his government’s strong commitment to carry on campaign against drugs and substance abuse. The chief minister was speaking at the Sadbhavana Diwas, the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. In his speech he admitted that the Imphal to Moreh highway is known to be a major route of drug trafficking. He also expressed serious concern that the future generation in the State will be destroyed by drugs.
The Sadbhavana Diwas function was held at 1st M R Banquet Hall. Biren was the chief guest while deputy chief minister Y Joykumar Singh was the functional president.
Speaking on the occasion, the CM of Manipur maintained that there is need for putting in concerted efforts to root out the menace of drugs for the future of the State.
The chief minister further instructed the DGP, L M Khaute who attended the function, to form an intelligence network in and around Moreh.
L M Khaute has also been asked to depute a committed officer for effective prevention of drug smuggling into the state from Myanmar through the border town of Moreh.
In his speech Chief Minister also announced suitable reward for the police team of Thoubal District, led by its SP Dr S Ibomcha.
