The suspense of political movement in Manipur took place for the last couple of days when Drone was used by Kuki militants resulting in renewed violence and killing in the state.

The Governor of Manipur Laxman Prasad Acharya who arrived at Imphal yesterday evening after a leave of fifteen days had called the Security Advisor and other senior officials for briefing.

The Chief Minister of Manipur had a meeting with ruling MLAs at his residence yesterday and later also went to meet the Governor.

There were media speculations that the Chief Minister may resign and the Governor may recommend for animated suspension of the Assembly.

Finally today at 11.06 AM, Chief Minister Biren along with the speaker, his Cabinet colleagues, and MLAs of the ruling party visited the Governor and submitted an eight-point resolution here today in Imphal.

It is learnt from sources the eight points submitted to the Governor are:

1. Centre should ensure peace and non violence in the state

2. Give adequate powers and responsibilities to the elected State government as per the constitution by handing over unified command

3. Abrogate SOO

4. No separate administration

5. Territorial integrity of the state to be fully protected

6. Completion of border fencing at the earliest

7. FMR to be implemented in letter and spirit

8. Conduct NRC in the State with base year 1961. Detect all illegal migrants and deport them.

The political activities are evolving and it is to be seen how the Centre and particularly BJP is responding to the recent violence taking place in the state of Manipur.

Reports are also coming from sources that there is no question of Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh resigning; it’s all just media speculation.

Later in the day, Chief Minister Biren met the representatives of the JAC against the brutal killing of (L) Ngangbam (O) Surbala Devi by Kuki militants at Koutruk at his Secretariat.

An ex gratia amount of ₹10 lakhs has been handed over to the bereaved family as a small gesture from the government, recognizing the deep loss they have endured wrote CM in his social media handle.

While no financial assistance can truly compensate for the life lost, it is our responsibility to stand by the affected families and offer them support in these difficult times echoed Biren Singh.

He expressed his deepest condolences to the family of (L) Ngangbam (O) Surbala Devi.
