Congress alleged that the BJP government is trying to divert the issue and is trying to script Jammu & Kashmir like policy for Manipur
Imphal: Finally, Congress broke its silence on Manipur crisis and expressed its take on Tuesday by holding a press conference and it came out all guns blazing against N Biren Singh-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state government alleging that it is doing nothing to bring the state back on its track. The press-meet was presided over by MPCC vice president Hareshwor Goswami. “The state is in mess for the past 20 days.
It is really unfortunate that till now the chief minister has not been able to restore peace and tranquility in the region. The chief minister has only admitted about lapse in security. Other than this he has done nothing significant so far,” rued Goswami.
Congress alleged that the BJP government is trying to divert the issue and is trying to script Jammu & Kashmir like policy for Manipur.
“Till now the government has not disbursed the amount of compensations to the victims of ethnic clashes that wreaked havoc in Manipur. May we know the reasons for this,” asked MPCC vice president Kh Devabrata.
Meanwhile, Devabrata claimed that over 39,500 displaced people were staying in the relief camps opened at different places across the state.
The state government can work out to siphon off 10% of the total budgetary allocation of the state and invest the amount for the rehabilitation of the displaced homeless people. For this, a special session of the state Assembly should be convened, he demanded.
