She said, there may be some issues of resistance but efforts are on to make people aware of the need to cooperate with State & Central security forces
Imphal : Search operations were conducted by the security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of the valley districts of Manipur in which 3 arms and 52 ammunition were recovered on Friday.
The successes of the operations were reported to the Manipur governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan in Imphal. Sonali Mishra, ADG, BSF (EC) along with four senior officers while briefing the governor said that 51 companies of BSF are being deployed in nine districts of Manipur to assist the administration in maintaining law and order.
She said, maximum deployment is in Imphal mostly in the adjoining areas of the valley and hills (buffer zone) and strict vigil is being maintained to prevent any untoward incidents further. Although there has been resistance in discharging duties in some areas by local people mostly by women folks, the force is in touch with the local populace and making them aware of the need to create a congenial atmosphere for the restoration of peace and normalcy.
Advocating the need to deploy a specific force to a specific area, ADG said, it will help to chalk out plans to face any eventuality in the area. Governor while appreciating the efforts of BSF, said, security forces are meant to save/help people and therefore all forces should work in this direction.
She said, there may be some issues of resistance but efforts are on to make people aware of the need to cooperate with State & Central security forces. She said, many appeals have been made to various women’s organizations to cooperate with security forces while meeting them at Raj Bhavan. She asked the ADG to assess the situation in the adjoining peripheral areas and if the need arises logistical assistance can be provided to the people.
Governor said efforts are on to bring peace and normalcy by Central and State governments. She had visited many relief camps both in hills and valleys and asked the administration to provide all assistance to the people staying in the camps.
