Imphal : Governor of Manipur Anusuiya Uikey convened a meeting with GOC 3 Corps Lieutenant General HS Sahi, Major General Rajan Sharawat, IGAR (South) and Major General V K Nambiar, IGAR (East) at Raj Bhavan today.
The team of officers briefed the Governor about the security situation in Manipur particularly joint combing operations carried out by the security forces and about the security measures taken up by the Army/Assam Rifles in the vulnerable areas of valley as well as in the foothills.
The officers informed the Governor about the multiple medical camps organised for the affected people by the Army/Assam rifles in both the hills and valley districts. The team of officers assured the Governor that the Army/Assam Rifles will help the civil administration in the run up to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur.
Governor of Manipur Anusuiya Uikey convened a meeting with Central team of officers led by Ashish Kumar, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs today at Raj Bhavan and the team apprised about the arrangements made for giving relief to the violence affected people in different relief camps in the districts.
The central team landed in Imphal a few days back and the team visited various relief camps to enquire about the grievances faced by the people there. The team apprised the Governor that measures have been taken up to control price rise.
They also informed that helicopter service have also started for the people living in Moreh and Churachandpur districts as informed by the Union Home Minister during his visit to the State. This service will also be started for Kangpokpi district shortly.
The team also visited Khongshang railway station in Tamenglong district to take stock of the preparations which are being made to store rail-fed essential commodities. Governor also shared her ideas of how relief and rehabilitation works for the affected people both in the hills and valley can be made easier.
