New Delhi : For the first time in a public function, the Governor of Manipur, Anusuiya Uikey highlighted the issues of the ongoing communal clashes between the Meiteis and Kukis that killed 175 persons as of September 20, 2023.
The governor was speaking while gracing the International Hindi Conference held in commemoration of the 115th Birth Anniversary of the renowned National poet, Late Ramdhari Singh Dinkar on Wednesday at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. It is organized by Vishwa Hindi Parishad, New Delhi.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor highlighted the present situation in Manipur and the continuous efforts for relief and rehabilitation of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) who have been taking refuge in various relief camps in the state since the ethnic clash started on May 3.
She reiterated that initiatives are being taken up by central and state governments to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur. The clash broke out on May 3 and over 60, 000 people are being displaced. The governor had visited at different relief camps where the displaced persons are taking shelter there.
