The Manipur High Court has directed the formation of a four-member committee to investigate the disappearance of a 56-year-old man from an army camp at Leimakhong in Kangpokpi district. The man was last seen on November 25.

The court’s order, issued on Tuesday by a division bench comprising Chief Justice D Krishnakumar and Justice Golmei Gaiphulsillu Kabui, mandates that the District Magistrate of Kangpokpi lead the committee. The committee will also include the Superintendents of Police from Kangpokpi and Imphal West, along with the Commanding Officer of the 57 Mountain Division.

The committee has been tasked with investigating whether the man was abducted or left voluntarily. The committee is required to submit a detailed report by the next court hearing, scheduled for December 11.
