During such a time it is intriguing how such a mistake can take place by an airline which has become a matter of debate as well as concern for the people in the Imphal Valley
Imphal : Manipur BJP MLA RK Imo Singh has written a letter to the Union Civil Aviation Minister Jytiraditya Scindia to investigate and take action regarding the name ‘Lamka’ being added as part of the address of ATO Imphal Airport to Air India ticket.
He wrote that it has come to our knowledge through various social media platforms that few Air India tickets have mentioned the ATO office of Imphal Manipur as ‘ Air India, ATO Imphal Airport, Lamka. Objecting strongly to the said action by Air India, Imo Singh stated in the letter that this is totally unacceptable on the part of Air India to have made this gross error and act of negligence/conspiracy to have altered the name from ‘Imphal to Lamka’ in the official ticket.
The Manipur MLA further informed that as there is only one airport in the state of Manipur in the city of Imphal, there can be no error of judgment that an adjoining airport name has been tagged. Imo suggested that there could be mischief done by some individual or organisation and he urged a time-bound investigation as well as punishment to those involved so that such an incident never happens.
It is to be noted that news reports have also surfaced that in the district of Churachandpur, many names are being altered and particularly the name of Churachandpur is being altered to ‘Lamka’.
During this highly volatile situation in Manipur post 3rd May violence, it is now more than two months the state is in turmoil and ethnically divided. During such a time it is intriguing how such a mistake can take place by an airline which has become a matter of debate as well as concern for the people in the Imphal Valley.
