An active cadre of the proscribed People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak, (Progressive) PREPAK-Pro was arrested while collecting money from businessmen at the Super Market Lamphel, in Imphal West district on Saturday (October 21, 2023), police said. A 9 mm pistol with one magazine, two mobile handsets, Rs 5, 000/- in cash (extortion), one Honda Activa, and some incriminating documents were recovered from his unauthorized possession, the police said.

Based on incredible information that some ruthless cadres of a valley-based underground group serving demand letters to the businessmen, the commandos of the Imphal West District police raided Lamphel supermarket at around 11 a.m. on Saturday.

The operation resulted in the arrest of an active cadre of the insurgent group later identified as Shyam Huidrom Singh also known as Johny, the police said. Shyam Huidrom Singh, a resident of Khagempalli under the Imphal district police is an active member of PREPAK (pro). The arrested person along with the recovered articles were handed over to Lamphel Police Station for further necessary legal action(s), the police added.
