Submits a memorandum with charter of demands to Amit Shah

Imphal : The renowned sports personalities of Manipur who have won medals for India at the Olympics and at various other international events have warned of surrendering their medals in protest if the union government fails to address their concerns and take note of their charter of demands.

The petitioners have submitted a memorandum to union home minister Amit Shah in this regard on Tuesday.

The charter of demands include immediate revocation of suspension of operation (SOO) agreement with the Kuki militant outfits, restoration of peace and normalcy in Manipur, deportation of all illegal immigrants to their respective countries, halting all sorts of move to disintegrate Manipur which will never be acceptable to them, protection of the unity and integrity of Manipur and allowing Meeiteis to settle in the hills as well.

Meanwhile, the signatories of the memorandum also demanded to unblock NH-2 because due to the non-movement of vehicles from this stretch prices of essential commodities have gone up in the state.

Olympian and Arjun awardee L Shushila Devi, Saikhom Mirabai Chanu Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna awardee and Padma Shri winner, ace boxer and Arjun awardee M Suronjoy Singh, Olympian and Arjun awardee Th Sanamacha Chanu, Dronacharya awardee L Ibomcha Singh, Padma Shri  Kunjorani Devi, Arjun awardee, Arjun awardee Laishram Sarita Devi, Padma Shri and Arjun awardee Oinam Bembem Devi, Olympian N Sonia Chanu, Arjun awardee M Bimoljit Singh, Arjun awardee W S Devi and Sanathoi Devi has put their signatures on this memorandum. 

Speaking with KRC TIMES Sarita Devi said that it was unbearable for them and thus they have come out and opened their mouth. They and their children are very disturbed with the development taking place in the state. 
They have been working for tye nation and that they love their country. Why in this crisis Government of India is not taking action and protecting innocent people, they questions emotionally.

The sports personalities seems to be mentally very upset and the ban on internet, essential commodities are becoming costlier and people are at distress and they no longer can stay quite, they said.
