Loss of lives is more important than the raping of women issue in the ongoing communal clashes
Imphal : Ten political parties raising on the issue of killing two students that caused a major spark across the valley districts in Manipur for the past 3 days stated that loss of lives is more important than the raping of women issue in the ongoing communal clashes.
Addressing a press conference at Imphal on Thursday, a spokesperson of the ten opposition parties, Dr. Nimaichand Luwang asked why the Prime Minister remained a mute spectator to date with regard to the killing case of two students Hemanjit (Male) and Linthoingambi (female) by the armed Kukis which has resulted in widespread protests that caused injured to over 200 protesters in the RAF and police actions during that past 3 days.
He also sought early intervention by taking various positive steps for early solutions to restore peace in the ongoing crisis in the state. Dr Nimaichand Luwang, who is also a leader of the Janata Dal United Manipur unit stated that the PM on July 20, 2023, condemned the alleged sexual assault of women in Manipur state as “shameful” and promised tough action in his first comments on ethnic clashes in the state.
It is a disturbing incident of sexual assault in Manipur that has ignited widespread outrage after a video surfaced showing two Kuki women being paraded naked on a road by a group of men from the Meitei community. The victims had allegedly been subjected to gang rape in a nearby field. Interestingly, the government has provided Rs 10 lakh each to the raped victims, and over a half dozen alleged rapists were arrested. Ten Opposition Political Parties in Manipur are AAP, AIFB, AITC, CPI, CPI(M), INC, JDU, NCP, RSP, and SS (UBT).
