Imphal : It’s the fifth day after the curfew was announced people have remained inside their residences. Some pharmacies inside the main market were seen open during the morning hour along with vegetable vendors today.

Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation volunteers  had been in the field since day one of the incident reaching out to the relief camp for  people of Moirang. Things like  clothes, other food items, medicine and essential items are given to Moirang Thangjing  Sindam Sang Shelter . At present there are around 10 temporary camps .

Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation Manipur  state  President Ch.Phalguni stated that,     “we have been reaching out to the victims who came rushing to Moirang since day one. Our Seva team has been serving the victims and now they are short of things like food and other commodities which we are going to deliver to Moirang.

We luckily got a new gas connection and our team is preparing meals for the victims.”Talking to one lady who was near the market pharmacy she said rushing for medicines for a heart patient father in-law and two asthmatic kids is a bit challenging.

Some vegetable vendors were seen selling the vegetables at thrice the normal price.Talking to some nurses they have expressed such painful incidents. Whatever situation occurs being in paramedics one has to do one’s duty but now the question for their security and safety  is at stake!

Three of them said, “we heard of some  incident  from our relatives whose houses were burnt down and want to be the victim of such sick  things.Being from a weaker section why women and children always become a victim in all kinds of war like situations.  What would be the steps and measures for their security?

A retired school teacher expressed that , “who  would like to go and serve in such a tense place?   No parents will ever send their children to work there. Such barbaric acts can’t be digested at all”.

Everyone forgets that doctors and nurses have to jump in the field but the question of safety measures for all paramedics is still a big question. One pharmacy owner felt weak while expressing that his relatives are still stuck up at Churchandpur and hearing on some molestation and rape cases  have worried their family to far extent.

Cases of rapes were informed through word of mouth but not been reported so far in any hospitals in the capital. One person said, “women and children always become the victims so cases might not have been reported but the question still lingers in everyone’s mind!”

Our relatives’ villages got burnt down by Kuki militants which we all know and some victims are now taking shelter at nearby villages.”Most of the leikai’s at Imphal East,Imphal west and some far villages the community club have started orienting their youths and guarding their villages in all  leikais every night before the rapid Action Force team came in.

Due to the sudden shut down of the net people were not able to charge their phones nor prepaid electricity on time. One youth expressed, “I came home after ages hoping to spend time but now see my fate we have not charged our electricity and depend on lamps and candles for night.”

One military jawan who got deployed to the valley was found rushing for a malaria kit as one of their jawans was suspected of suffering from malaria after they had landed in the field.

Most of the leikai’s are now contributing spare mats, mosquito nets, clothes, children clothes , rice and other items like medicines  voluntarily to all locality clubs to help the needy.
