Manipur to stop publication due to non-clearance Advertisement Bills

As the ruling government could not pay its bills for nearly Rs. 4 crores to the various media houses in Manipur a meeting of the Editors, members of Editor Guild Manipur (EGM), and Manipur Hill Journalist Union ( MHJU) have decided to observe a one day cease work to protest the non-clearance of Government advertisement bills to various media houses in Manipur. Following the decision, there will be no news bulletin and discussion program for electronic media on 16th December 2021and no publication on 17th December 21. 

If no visible action is seen from the government side, the media will start boycotting news related to Ministers followed by Government and the ruling parties. 

The meeting also appealed to the government to take up the matter immediately to save Manipur Media. 

It may be recalled that the media houses requested and pressured the government on many occasions to clear its dues. As the government failed its promises and does not see any development, the media houses have taken up the decision to stop its publication it said.

One of the reporters narrated to KRC Times that they are facing such difficulties to run their family as they are not given salaries as media depends on the advertisement.
