Prohibitory order under section 144 CR PC since yesterday at Pongringlong ( Charoipandongba ) village and the whole area of Charoichagotlong ( Tupul) bazaar
In an internal village crisis violence flared up today that occurred at Pongringlong (Charoipandongba) village under Kangchup Geljang Sub – Division, in Kangpokpi District where three houses including one shop were torched and completely burnt and other three vehicles were also completely burnt down and two vehicles were damaged.
The owner of the house is Lanlimlung Panmei. The unfortunate incident happened this morning at around 10:30 am at Pongringlong village bordering near Tupul bridge, Noney District of Manipur. The NH-37 was also blocked for some hours.
Three injured persons who were identified as Lungsinthui Malangmei (42 yrs) s/o Lungthaongam Malangmei of Pongringlong village, Landimlung Malangmei (45:yrs) s/o Pouduanjei Malangmei of Pongringlong village, and Moses Ruangmei (30 yrs) s/o Lungjaoni of Sangji Village were brought to Noney Primary Health Centre and given first aid while in the other side two injured persons identified as Kabisin Gangmei (17’yrs) s/o Gaikhanjang Gangmei of Pongringlong village, Pousinlung Panmei (28 yrs) s/o Lanlimlung Panmei of Pongringlong village, Sianchinglu Kamson (41 yrs) w/o Dimthuina Kamson of Pongringlong village and Gaithuanjang Daimei(32 yrs) s/o Jangonglung Daimei of Pongringlong village were brought to Regional Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) Imphal for medical treatment. It is known that the condition of Gaithuanjang Daimei is very serious. Information received so far from sources informed that several other persons including police personals were also injured in the incident that erupted violence between two parties.
It may be mention that both the District magistrate of Noney and Kangpokpi had already clamped prohibitory order under section 144 CR PC since yesterday at Pongringlong ( Charoipandongba ) village and the whole area of Charoichagotlong ( Tupul) bazaar.
As the law and order situation is fragile and volatile in that area, the top officials of the two districts rushed to the spot and subdued the situation.
Later the Deputy Commissioner of Noney District Robert Singh Kshetrimayum and Deputy Commissioner of Kangpokpi District Somorjit Salam chaired a joint meeting with the DIG Range -III S.Themthing and Angam Romania Kamei, DIG Range -IV, PG. Singsit SP Kangpokpi, Ningshem Vashum, SP Noney along with the leaders of Joint Action Committee of peace and normalcy in Pongringlong village at Tupul Community Hall.
Now the situation is under control and a high-level meeting with the Chief Minister and the two parties will hold a joint meeting on Monday.
It is learned that the tension erupted on the issue of Chairmanship of the villages.
