The renewed firing started at these locations on August 29
Imphal : On the 4th day of the intermittent exchanges of fire between two warring groups of the ongoing communal violence in Manipur, a 37-year-old man sustained bullet injuries at Phubala Maning Leikai village at the periphery of Bishnupur and Churachandpur districts.
Thangjam Raju, 37, son of Th Jugindro, a resident of Phubala Maning Leikai ward number two was hit by a bullet on his left thigh while he was working at his residence at around 6 am on Friday. He was immediately rushed to the Bishnupur district hospital for medical treatment, official sources said.
For the 4th day on Friday, the intermittent gun fights between the armed groups of the two communities continued. A total of 7 persons lost their lives and 14 injuries in the sporadic gun battles at the interdistrict areas of Naranseina, Thamnapokpi, Ngangkha Lawai, Phubala and Khoirentak in Manipur. The renewed firing started at these locations on August 29.
For the past 3/4 months, Manipur has been on the boil due to the ethnic violence that cost the lives of over 150 individuals and around 60,000 people have been displaced. Over 70, 000 security forces and police are being deployed at vulnerable places for the restoration of peace and normalcy in the state.
