In a powerful display of unity, peace, and harmony, Manipuri ponies took center stage in a rally held in Imphal, the capital of Manipur. These ponies, deeply rooted in Manipuri society and renowned for their historical significance in warfare, delivered a resounding message of peace to the strife-torn region.

The rally, organized jointly by the Manipur Horse Riding and Polo Association, Manipur Equestrian Association, and Manipur Pony Society, witnessed the participation of around a hundred ponies alongside their human companions. The procession commenced from the Manipur Breeding Farm in Lamphelpat, Imphal West, and made its way through significant locations including the DC Office complex, Uripok Kangchup road, and Thangmeiband, concluding near the Pony farm close to Central School in Lamphelpat.

With placards displaying messages like “We want peace,” “No separate administration,” “Implement NRC,” and “Manipur kaiba yaroy,” the rally aimed to raise awareness about the current situation in Manipur. The presence of these majestic animals, accompanied by their dedicated riders, symbolized the collective determination of the people to stand together and safeguard the unity of the state.

H Dilip, the President of the Manipur Horse Riding and Polo Association, emphasised the profound connection between horses and Manipur’s history, tracing back to ancient times. He underlined the iconic role played by ponies in safeguarding the boundaries of Manipur and conveyed that the rally delivered a strong message of the people’s unwavering commitment to preserving the state’s integrity and opposing any form of division.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the rally, Dilip urged everyone to embrace living in harmony together. The event showcased the endurance and historical significance of Manipuri ponies, creating a sense of solidarity and hope for a peaceful future amidst the challenges faced by the region.
