“After 2020 I want to retire. My main mission is to get a gold for India. I really really want to win (gold),” Mary Kom told a news agency at the sidelines of an event.
In a bid to end all speculation over her retirement, Olympic bronze medalist, MC Kom of Manipur, dubbed at the women Muhammad Ali in the world of women boxing, on Thursday said she plans to hang her gloves after winning the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics.
In her 18-year long illustrious career, Mary Kom has won six World Championship titles, an Olympic bronze medal and five Asian Championships and Bollywood biopic stared by Priyanka Chopra. Besides being a top-level boxer, she is also a sitting Rajya Sabha MP in the parliament.
