Diphu : After a massive backlash in media as regard to the prospect of the ambitious 1000 megawatt solar project of the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited proposed to be installed in Bokajan subdivision of Karbi Anglong autonomous district the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council authority has come out with a clean breath to refute all accusations.
In a hurriedly convened press conference Amarsing Tisso Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council elucidated that the proposed solar project of the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited will be constructed at the site already handed over to the company. He informed that the project cost will be four thousand crore rupees and it will encompass an area consisting around eighteen thousand bighas of land.
Tisso made it clear that the expenditure will be at the ratio of 80:20; the Assam government will inure 20% expenses, he mentioned that the cheering part of this mega project is that the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council will receive 10% revenue from the project and a share of gratis power.
Tisso said that according to the agreement local indigenous people will be absorbed in maximum unskilled jobs generated by this project. He hinted that according to the expected revenue share the council may get around four hundred crore rupees annually.
Dorsing Ronghang, BJP MLA of Howraghat who also addressed the media at the council’s conference hall said that the project will take in areas sharing border with Nagaland, localities like Lingerie, Sota Lingerie, Lalmati, Lengri Jan etc. will be encompassed. He also said that the project will exclude certain villages and grazing ground. He informed that soon boundary pillars will be installed in the demarcated borderline and the record will be in public domain.
Ronghang informed that most of the eighteen thousand bigha land is either cadastral or non cadastral but very much under the control of the autonomous council, he said that villagers claiming possession of the land don’t have any legal document , however the council may consider some kind of reimbursement.
Rebuffing all assertions of the opposition parties and a section of media Ronghang said that no executive members of the ruling party including the Chief Executive Member Tuliram Ronghang, Amarsing Tisso or their family members holds any land within the project site and openly called on all to produce any evidence against their claim.
