Silchar : A shocking incident of child abuse was reported in Silchar as a mother of a 1 year-8-month-old toddler forced her child to drink and smoke in a rented house in Silchar.

The incident came to light after the District Child Helpline, Cachar received a few disturbing photographs of child abuse from an informer on June 12 and acting on this tip the District Child Protection Unit, Cachar along with Silchar Sadar Police officials raided the house situated in Chengcoorie road and apprehended the accused mother who readily admitted to her actions and tried to justify it by saying, “We were just partying.”.

The District Child Helpline Unit’s Supervisor Debashish Dey said, “This is a shocking incident and We have kept both the mother and child in a shelter home as legal procedures are to follow the mother might get arrested today after an FIR is filed.”
