Motor borne man gunned down at Churachandpur

The cause of the killing is under investigation, the police said

Imphal : A motor-borne 53-year-old Paite (tribal) was gunned down by unknown persons at Khuga Tampak under the Churachandpur police station on Sunday, the police said. The body of Lalkhanthang, 53, that suffered multiple bullet injuries was recovered at around 7 am near Khuga Tampak Tuithanpi in Churachandpur district headquarters, the police said.

Lalkhanthang, son of Thangkhansuan, was a resident of Dorcas Road, New Lamka, Churachandpur district Headquarters. The police said that he was shot dead by the unknown armed persons after being waylaid and assumed to have died on the spot.

He came on a motorcycle Pulser black in color. The two-wheeler was also recovered from the spot. Police recovered the dead body and motorcycle. The cause of the killing is under investigation, the police said. A case has been registered and the body of Lalkhanthang has been handed over to the Churachandpur district hospital for the postmortem, the police added. Meanwhile, no group so far claims responsibility for the killed.
