HMB’s incomplete construction of the drain as well as not clearing the dugout soil was the prime reason to create inconvenience to the people
Mahur: The Indifferent attitude of the Mahur Municipal Board towards the amenities of the people of Mahur has become a serious cause of concern, people alleged.
Mahur, a developing township covering numerous villages with a sizable population considered to be a very important place in the district in terms of tourism and local organic production.
Tuesday being the Hat day attracts people in large numbers from even bordering areas of Manipur and Nagaland thus Mahur market becomes an interstate market on the day.
People alleged that the condition of Mahur Market even on a Haat day become a pit of hell as there was a clump of dug out soil across the lower Bazar road. One couldn’t risk climbing over it as a fall was sure to happen. To add to the obstructions there were a couple of trucks and some three-wheelers.
The people of Mahur have approached the HMB many times but were of no use. HMB is responsible for the cleanliness of the market and of the town but was found indifferent towards people’s sufferings. Prime Minister Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan also could not get any impact at Mahur, people opined.
People of Mahur said the residents should take the blame upon themselves when it comes to civic sense, but here the story is different – HMB’s incomplete construction of the drain as well as not clearing the dugout soil was the prime reason to create inconvenience to the people.
