Assam Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, announced today that over 6,000 individuals from a particular community in Assam went to jail for marrying multiple girls. He warned people of spreading love jihad through social media platforms like Facebook and stated that strict action will be taken against those people who engages in such practices. Sarma stated the need to uphold women’s self-respect and dignity, declaring that one person can only marry one woman under the new law soon to be enacted in Assam.

Sarma’s decisive actions aim to eradicate age-old traditions of polygamy, where one person marries multiple women under the guise of tradition, claiming it as their independence. “Don’t women and girls have self-respect?” Sarma questioned, highlighting the importance of educating girls and ensuring their empowerment before marriage.

Sarma said that he remains resolute in his pursuit to ban polygamy and love jihad in Assam, citing the state’s rich cultural heritage and the blessings of leaders like Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

While acknowledging past instances of love jihad in Assam, Sarma assured the public that such activities are now under control, attributing the positive change to stringent measures and community awareness campaigns.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has stated that Muslims will not receive reservations as long as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is in power.

Sarma emphasised that reservations were intended for Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), and Other Backward Classes (OBCs).

He also mentioned that the INDI alliance’s intent to extend reservations to Muslims would be thwarted.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma says “Muslims should not get reservations. Reservation is for SCs, STs and OBCs. INDI alliance wants to provide reservations to Muslims but we will not let that happen. The reservations that have been given in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal are also going to be taken back in the next few days. Muslims do not have the right to get a reservation and they will not get it until BJP is there…”

Sarma further stated that the existing reservations in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and West Bengal will be revoked in the coming days.

He asserted that Muslims do not possess the right to reservations and will not acquire it as long as the BJP is in power.
