Imphal: A nine-member team from Myanmar led by the chief minister of Magway region is in Imphal on a 4-day visit to the border state to explore trade and commerce and healthcare solutions that can materialize between the two immediate neighbours.
The Myanmarese delegates who arrived on Sunday took an inspectional tour of two major hospitals, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, RIMS, and Sky hospital on Monday.
Head of departments from RIMS, representatives of Sky hospital and the principal secretary Health and Family Welfare of the government of Manipur, Vumlunmang Vualnam briefed the foreign visitors about the facilities available in the said hospitals.
The Myanmarese delegates who are here to explore joint cooperation, particularly in the field of medical sciences in studying the possibility of exchange of medical students, doctors and patients between the two neighbours.
“I’m here to study the medical facilities in Imphal. On visiting RIMS and Sky hospital, I’ve come to the conclusion that the hospitals here are reliable and have many specialities. The treatments available looks very effective,” said Aung Moe Nyo, the Chief Minister of Myanmar’s Magway region.
He further added that only the well-to-do-family in Myanmar can afford the expensive treatment available abroad in Thailand and Singapore.
The Chief Minister approved the treatment cost in Manipur and said it very affordable when compared with the expenditure in Bangkok and Singapore.
“I shall tell the patients in my country that the hospitals in Manipur are reliable and operation theatre in Sky hospital is well equipped for Cardiac surgery with modern equipment’s,” said Aung. Chairman and chief cardiologist of Sky Group of hospitals, Dr. L. Shyamkishore Singh said that the visit of high-level delegates from Myanmar is a moment of pride for Manipur and Sky hospital.
Sky hospital is the only privately run, well-equipped hospital, specializing in cardiac surgery and treatment at an affordable cost.
