Imphal : The Inspector General of the CRPF, Manipur, and Nagaland, Sandeep Datta has assured the governor Anusuiya Uikey for early restoration of peace in this strife-torn state. The assurance was given to the Manipur governor when the IG, CRPF, Manipur & Nagaland Sector called on the latter at Raj Bhavan in Imphal on Thursday and apprised of the security situation in the State.

Accompanying by his wife Rajni Datta, Sector Head, CRPF Wives Welfare Association, the IG thanked the Governor for her guidance and briefed about the security measures being taken up by CRPF in tackling the prevailing situation and also in extending assistance to the violence-affected people in the State. Governor appreciated the efforts put in by CRPF, especially during the last three months, and asked to lend support further in bringing normalcy and peace.

She asked the IG to distribute utility boxes to the Internally Displaced People (IDPs) staying at Biramangol College relief camp in Imphal East district and the IG assured that the same will be distributed to the IDPs on her behalf.

It may be noted within this purview that a number of CRPF companies and Rapid Action Forces are being deployed at the vulnerable areas of the state owing to the ongoing ethnic violence between the Kukis and Meiteis that erupted on May 3 last. Over 60,000 individuals from different places are taking shelter at 350 relief camps at present.
