Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio inaugurated Noklak as the 12th District of Nagaland on 20th January at public ground Noklak Hq in the presence of Dy. Chief Minister, Y.Patton, Advisor L.Khumo and Advisor H.Haiying.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Noklak District cum khaozaosie- Hok-Ah festival as special Guest, CM expressed his best wishes to the people of Noklak and hoped that, Noklak district shall set a good example further encouraging all to have a competitive spirit and to co-operate with the government for all round development. He called upon the people of Noklak district to be self sufficient and encourage the young people to start modern farming.

Chief Minister gave the tag name of Noklak District as ‘Frontier District’, Noklak district being located in the international boundary with Myanmar which connects to other east and south east countries. He called upon all to safe guard and to protect the region. With regards to the COVID-19 vaccine, Rio mentioned that preference will be given to health care workers, frontal workers and elderly people who are above 50 years of age.

Chief Minister also greeted the people of Khiamniungan community a Happy Khaozaosie-Hok-Ah festival, the festival of Thanksgiving and hoped that it would user in a prosperous year.

Deputy Chief Minister, Y.Patton while exhorting the gathering adviced the people of Noklak District to be a peace loving and unite together with the neighboring districts and expressed hope that, though  Noklak district is located in the far end of Nagaland  it is the gateway to the east. If people are united, Noklak will be more advanced district in Nagaland, he said further advising the people to avoid land issues when development comes.

Advisor Prisons, Printing & Stationery H.Haiying, said, for the people of Noklak 20th January will be a historic day. The people of Noklak have been longing and cherishing for the district and today it has been fulfilled, Haiying stated. He said that Noklak district is the gateway to the east and expressed hope that, with the help of government, it will become the real gateway to the eastern countries.

Chief Secretary, J.Alam, Deputy Commissioner Tuensang, Kumar Ramnikant, President, Khiamniungan Tribal Council M.Thangou also spoke during the occasion.

Executive Secretary, Khiamniungan Baptist Churches Association, P.Hempao Lam dedicated the Monolith during the inaugural ceremony and special numbers were presented by K.Okie and the forlic band.

Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Noklak, Reny Wilfred, Ilwelcomed the gathering and vote of thanks was delivered by Superintendent of Police Noklak, Dr.Pritpal Kaur Batra.

Meanwhile in the Khaotsoasie Hok-Ah programme, Advisor, Khiamniungan Tribal Council, P.Pongom delivered a speech on the significance of Khaozaosie-Hok-Ah.

Short Speeches were delivered by Ex.Minister P.Longon, Ex. Parliamentary Secretary S.Heno, President ENDBU, R.Muthsodang Sangtam, Former President, Khiamniungan Tribal Council, L.Ngon and President KTC & Convenor Steering Committee M.Thangou. The programme was led by Executive Chairman KTC Pakhiu and benediction was pronounced by Pastor, Longdon Town Baptist Church, Noklak Revd. B. Chillia. The Khiamniungan cultural and traditional dances were displayed during the festival.

Meanwhile, Vice President of India released a video on Noklak District profile and extended his best wishes to the new district.
