Narcotic and Affairs of Border busted a brown sugar factory; Drugs worth over billion seized

A combined team of Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB) and Manipur Police Thoubal busted a brown sugar factory at Lilong dam in Thoubal district around 4 in the morning on Saturday.

The combined team led by NAB additional SP, Th. Brinda, OC B. Rishikesh and Thoubal additional SP S. Sachidananda under the supervision of SP Narcotic and Affairs of Border was assisted by “ANJUMAN Ishla-e Muashra” a anti- drug Muslim social organisation in busting the illicit factory,  which lead to the seizure of 111.915 kilograms of heroin brown sugar.

Several chemicals, equipment and tools used for manufacturing the heroine brown sugar were also recovered from the factory. 
Lime, vice, iron plates, pots LPG gas and clothing were recovered from the manufacturing site.
The seized drugs are believed to be worth over a billion of rupees in the international market. 
Three persons from Thoubal district were been arrested in connection with the crime. 
Briefing media at NAB office, NAB SP W. Basu said that the seizure was the first of its kind in the state and informed that a team of NAB also seized 5.463 kilograms of opium from Hongkong veng village, Chandel district on Friday. 
The operating team of the Chandel operation arrested Paosienlal Tungdin (32), Mrs. Mangnu Tungdim(55) and Aron nangsha (37) from Gelnal village of Chandel district. Chandel is a frontier district of Manipur that borders Myanmar, a top heroin producing country of the world. 
Significantly, five days ago Manipur Police apprehended a drug peddler from the border town of Moreh along with 78,000 WY tablets, worth Rs 1.5 Crore from Imphal East district
