Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Imphal, Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India organised today the National Science Day on the theme: “Global Science for Global Wellbeing”.

Prof. Pulok K. Mukherjee, Director of IBSD highlighted about the importance of  National Science Day celebration. and he also mentioned that the program is organised to inspire and motivate research scholars and students in the field of science and to increase awareness in Science and Technology and its impact on human lives. 

Two eminent Scientists Prof. Marco Leonti, Associate Professor, Department of Biomedical Sciences, University of Cagliari, Cittadella Univesitaria, Italy and Prof. Alexander N. Shikov, Professor, Department of the Technology of Pharmaceutical Formulations, St. Petersberg State Chemical Pharmaceutical University, Russia were the resource persons. Prof. Marco Leonti shared his experiences on the different healing practices and herbal medicines used in Mexico. 

He also highlighted the importance of proper documentation, validation and publication of the traditional medicines and Prof. Alexander N. Shikov, elaborated on the different plants and herbal formulations with particular emphasis on the medicinal plants used for the treatment of respiratory diseases in Russia. 

The programme was attended by more than 150 participants comprising of Scientists, Research scholars and staffs of IBSD.
