Haflong : To take stock of the situation where several villages of Umrangso were affected by the heavy rainfall & hailstorms occurred yesterday, Chief Executive Member, N C Hills Autonomous Council Visited some villages of Umrangso area along with Projit Hojai EM DHAC, Lalremsiama Darnei EM DHAC, Joysing Durong MAC DHAC, officials of Land & revenue department DHAC and DDMA Dima Hasao on Sunday. After visiting the temporary camps he assured the affected families of every possible assistance to them, who are being put up in relief camps. Total number of families affected by hailstones on 18/03/2023 so far collected from respective GBs of Affected villages in Umrongso Area.

Several houses in and around Umrangso area of Dima Hasao were damaged due to hailstones which occurred at about 1.30 pm on Saturday. People of several villages of Umrangso in Dima Hasao have incurred a huge loss of property and livestock due to today’s hail storm at around 1.45 pm.Affected villagers appealed to the authority concerned for immediate relief. They are not in a position to spend might at their damaged houses. Meanwhile District Disaster Management Authority has sent field officials to assess the loss of today’s incidents of hailstones. It is learnt that more than 12 villages were affected due to hailstones.
