Diphu:   Government organizations and civil societies of Karbi Anglong observed ‘World No Tobacco day’ with the rest of the world today, the authority organized various awareness programs in Diphu town, the official headquarters of this autonomous region.

The theme of this year’s no tobacco day is “We Need Food, Not Tobacco. The District Health Society, National Health Mission in alliance with the Department of Community Medicine Diphu Medical College & Hospital, Diphu displayed a street play in two crowded places of the town, daring the high summer temperature.

The drama was composed and choreographed by the students’ of Diphu Medical College & Hospital, surprisingly the performance fascinated huge crowds particularly the youths at Diphu bus stand and in close proximity to Hanuman temple. The street play basically puts on show the harmful effects of consuming tobacco as well as appeals to the community to give up tobacco in all forms.
