The true picture of the government-run schools can be imagined from the shocking news of a 13-year-old boy being injured after a ceiling fan fell on his head in the classroom of an East Delhi school. The boy sustained serious injuries. The incident has come as a shock to the people of the area.

The student identified as Harsh has got seriously injured in the incident. First aid was provided by the school authorities and was later taken to the Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital. Since his condition was serious, he was later referred to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital.

As the boy comes from a humble family, his family is struggling to meet the expenses for the treatment.

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Thursday has sent a notice to the Delhi government in this connection. The Commission has directed the chief secretary to inquire into the matter and provide the best treatment to the injured student.

To prevent any further occurrence of any such incident in future the Commission has directed .the authorities concerned to conduct a survey of all govt. schools and identify and rectify all such fixtures and fittings.

It was learned that no teacher accompanied the boy to the hospital with his uncle. But the commission feels that either a teacher or regular staff of the school should have provided proper treatment to the student.
