Haflong : People of Dima Hasao in general feared to face another disaster as the concerned authority yet to find out the root cause of last year’s devastation due to manmade or natural calamities.People expressed apprehension that they may face another disaster in the coming days also. As it is observed that unscientific mining, and plying of heavily loaded vehicles on DD Road and other places.

It is observed that Coal are being extracted at Larbo village near Diyungmukh  without any    permit or in the name of other place.  The AMDC has allowed mining of coal at Kota Arda area but taking the advantage of that permit of Kota Arda, coal is being extracted  unscientifically from Larbo area.AMDC staff also seemed to be helpless and said mining was continuing at Larbo in the name of Kota Arda.

Even knowing the fact the concerned authority seemed to be in slumber. Concern netizen said that numbers of plot of land are being dug  for mining without any proper method, It might lead to 2022 like disaster this year also.

It is alleged that loaded trucks with six axles frequently ply on the road causing heavy damaged to the road and unscientific mining in scattered areas also becomes a serious threat to land erosion and is followed by heavy landslides.

As the people of Dima Hasao still in nightmare remembering the last year’s disaster, they also alleged that the concerned authority should find out the root cause of the such manmade calamities instead of blaming the Nature. The people opined that if any prior and proper steps are not taken before onslaught of monsoon, the district may face dire consequences this year also. At the same time plying heavy vehicles with six axels should be restricted.

It is known to all that during last year a trail of devastation all the completed five years’ development projects were damaged causing a heavy loss to the Government exchequer and pushed the district to few years back in development.
