“June 6th 1952, Phom Day to witness this Day Where In all Phoms have pledged themselves to be peaceful and loyal to Government. The 6th June marks the end of headhunting era and beginning of Peace in Phom land.
Phom community celebrated its 67th Phom Day on 6th June were with the Chief Secretary & Finance Commissioner, of Nagaland, Temjen Toy addressing a mammoth gathering of Phom community from far and near at Local Football Ground, in Longleng.
The theme for this year celebration is “Embracing Peace and Sharing Peace Within”. In this perspective Toy echoed that peace in its literal sense is not the absence of conflict and war, but peace in totality is all about orderliness, absence of confusion, a land built upon equality and Justice. Peace in the land is where every citizen feels secure, respected, access to development and every citizen feels satisfied with what happened within.
He informed that it is very encouraging to learn that peace has fashioned the Phom community to participate in building the global family by producing many intellectuals serving the state, different organizations in different capacities.
He also informed that the story of Amur Falcon Conservation in Longleng has contributed to its maximum to the global world. The lone surviving satellites tagged bird named “Longleng” since 2016 is making a headline for the scientific community. With this ultimate cause in focus, Phom citizen must also make its effort of facilitating the task of conserving nature in every possible way. The toy also called upon the Government officers posted in Longleng and said that he was confident that the officers will work sincerely to help the community and the efforts put together will be proven and seen in the progression of the district and the state.

The Deputy Commissioner Longleng John Tsulise Sangtam spoke on ‘My concept of “Peace” a short refrain; Phom Day Foundations by the President Phom Students’ Conference (PSC) and “Peace Within” (A Stories) by Y.B. Angam, President APGO respectively.

It may be mentioned that on June 6, 1952, all the representative of villages declared to all the people in Phom land that the day is to be affirmed as the landmark of peace where the whole community pledged themselves to forsake war and extend hands to live in peace with one another. 67 years ago on this historically significant day, a stone pillar was erected having imprinted a vow in a monument which reads “June 6th 1952, Phom Day to witness this Day Were In all Phoms have pledged themselves to be peaceful and loyal to Government.
