Subsequent preliminary questioning of the detained individual substantiated his affiliation with PLA
Imphal : An active cadre of the outlawed People’s Liberation Army (PLA) was apprehended in an operation conducted by the Assam Rifles near Moreh, situated along the Indo-Myanmar Border (IMB) within the state of Manipur, an official statement said here on Thursday.
Acting upon credible intelligence pertaining to the movement of insurgent cadre from Myanmar into the Indian Territory, the Assam Rifles executed a meticulously planned operation wherein multiple teams were deployed. The team intercepted and apprehended a suspicious individual who was attempting to cross the border. Subsequent preliminary questioning of the detained individual substantiated his affiliation with PLA.
The nabbed cadre has been handed over to the Moreh Police Station to facilitate further investigation and subsequent legal proceedings, the statement added.The proscribed PLA is fighting for the restoration of Maniur’s independence. Manipur merged with the Indian Union in 1949.
