Police firing at Maibang, one DNLA cadre dies, three injured

Haflong : In an unfortunate incident, one DNLA cadre died, three injured when police resorted to firing at Maibang. The Incident took at one AM of Friday at Khashmaipur near Maibang. It is alleged that there was an altercation between police and cadres of Dimasa National Liberation Army following which the police resorted to firing.

The deceased cadre is identified as Ali Dimasa @Bibujit Haphila . Injured are Tinjon Dimasa, Shot Dimasa and Rainbow Dimasa.

The DNLA cadres are under ceasefire and sheltered at designated camp at Khashmaipur near Maibang. Meanwhile, the Halali Progressive Welfare Society Haflong an organisation of former Dima Halam Daogah DHD revolutionary organisation has condemned the firing and killing of DNLA cadre, injured three others.

The HPWS Haflong has demanded proper enquiry and book the guilty persons as per the law of the land.Organisations like Jadikhe Naisho Hosom, All Dimasa Students Union, Dimasa Students Union condemned the incident of firing at a time when peace has been prevailing in the district to a great extent.

Dima Hasao Superintendent of Police Mayenk Kumar held a Press meets at his office on Friday. Explaining the incidence that took place at Khashmaipur near Maibang where one DNLA cadre died and injured others, SP Kumar said firing in the air was to disperse the gathering not with any bad intention.

He however expressed his sorrow and termed the incident as unfortunate. He also informed the pressmen that a magisterial enquiry to this firing is instituted and compensation would be provided to the victim’s family.
