Imphal: Remote working professionals in Manipur on Sunday expressed apprehension of losing their jobs due to prolonged ban on internet services. This was stated in a press conference at Manipur Press Club in Imphal by the Moirangthem Shudhakar, spokesperson of ‘All Manipur Remote Working Professionals Few have already lost their employment and the ban of internet service in Manipur now more that 15 days has put jobs at risk, echoed the spokesperson.
Okram Gyanenchandra legal advisor of All Manipur Remote Working Professionals, opined that these professionals are also contributing to the state economy directly or indirectly and if they lose jobs who are going to provide them the jobs.
All Manipur Remote Working Professionals has submitted a memorandum to the chief secretary and commissioner (Home) on May 19 requesting immediate arrangement of internet connection for the professionals. Among the suggestions it is also mentioned that to arrange an internet connected building or work place for the remote working professionals.
