Imphal : BJP Manipur Pradesh came out strongly against the decision of Rahul Gandhi to travel by road to Churachandpur. In a press conference called at the BJP office here in Imphal attended by MLA and Chairman of Manipur Pollution Control Board Dr. Usham Deben Singh along with Sarat Kumar, General Secretary, and Asker Ali President Minority Morcha, BJP Manipur Pradesh and said that as the state government has arranged his travel through Chopper why they had to change the plan.
They stated that Rahul Gandhi’s visit can not be seen as a peace mission but has come to take political mileage.
Dr. Deben also said that Rahul Gandhi may not be aware of the situation in Manipur but Congress Manipur MLAs very much understand the situation on the ground and taking him to Churachandpur by road is creating a chaotic situation, he alleged.
On the Suspension of Operations with Kuki militants Manipur BJP alleged that it was done by the Congress regime in 2008 and Ibobi should take responsibility for the same. They also said that Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has a mandate of the people and there is no reason why he should resign.
They reiterated that N. Biren Singh enjoys people’s support. Speaking to KRC TIMES, Dr. Deben said that the BJP party is providing relief materials to all the relief materials and in his constituency in four places his party workers are helping all the people in the relief camps. He is hopeful that soon people will be rehabilitated.
On security issues, Dr. Deben said that state security forces are doing their art but equally it is a fact that people are not very confident about the role of Assam Rifles. He categorically stated that there cannot be any separate administration and the BJP party will never allow that.
On Kuki BJP MLA he informed that their central leaders are in touch talking to them and he cannot say whether any back channel communication is going on from the state leadership. He said that the law of the land has to be maintained.
