In a bid to further extend rail connectivity in Manipur, Northeast Frontier Railway has decided to operate the Jan Shatabdi Express train between Agartala to Jiribam up to Khongsang in Manipur. The train will commence its regular journey w.e.f 14th October 2022 on Monday, Wednesday & Friday. This section has been newly constructed under Jiribam – Imphal new line project. Train journey travel time is less than half as the journey time will be around 07 hrs covering a distance of 300 Kms against about 15 hrs or so by road. The Jan Shatabdi will be having new Linke Hofmann Busch coaches with the latest amenities for passengers. Moreover, a Vistadome coach has also been added to this train.
The inaugural special of this train will be flagged off by the President of India on 13th October 2022 at 08:45 hours from Agartala railway station. Further, the inaugural time of 02516/02515 (Agartala – Kolkata – Agartala) has been revised to start at 08:45 hours.
Inaugural special train no. 02097 between Agartala & Khongsang will be flagged off from Agartala station on 13th October, 2022 at 08:45 hours to reach Khongsang at 18:00 hours on the same day.
During its regular run train no. 12097 (Agartala – Khongsang) Jan Shatabdi Express will depart from Agartala at 06:00 hours w.e.f 14th October 2022 to reach Khongsang at 13:40 hours on the same day. In the return direction, train no. 12098 (Khongsang – Agartala) Jan Shatabdi Express will depart from Khongsang at 14:40 hours w.e.f 14th October 2022 to reach Agartala at 22:00 hours on the same day. The train will run with a composition of 8 coaches. One Vistadome coach, one AC chair car, four non – AC chair cars, one Luggage cum power car, and one guard cum luggage rake.
Both the inaugural special train and regular run the train will run via Ambasa, Dharmanagar, New Karimganj, Badarpur Jn., Arunachal, Jiribam, Vangaichungpao, Rani Guidinlieu and Thingou.
The details of stoppages and timings of this train are available at IRCTC website and through NTES and are also being notified in various newspapers and social media platforms of N.F. Railway. Passengers are requested to verify the details before undertaking their journey.
