Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad will today launch the commemoration of four years of Digital India initiative in New Delhi.

The aim of this initiative is to bridge the digital divide and create awareness about Information Technology.

Digital services being offered by the government as well as the private sector have improved the life of every citizen. Prime Minister Narendra had launched various initiative of Digital India on 1st of July, 2015.

Digital India comprises various initiatives which are targeted to prepare India for becoming a knowledge economy and for bringing good governance to citizens through synchronized and coordinated engagement of the entire government.

The Digital India Project aims to connect all gram panchayats by broadband connectivity under BharatNet Project to promote e-governance. Over one lakh 28 thousand gram panchayats have been connected with optical fibre till date.
