RBI Deputy Governor Viral Acharya has resigned six months before the scheduled end of his term.

RBI Deputy Governor Viral Acharya has resigned six months before the scheduled end of his term. He was in charge of the monetary policy department.

Acharya, a New York University Economics Professor, was appointed for three years. He had joined the central bank in January last year. RBI is now left with three Deputy Governors NS Vishwanathan, BP Kanungo and MK Jain.
