Imphal : Amongst the 68 inmates staying in the relief camp at Wankhai High School, in Imphal who is now sheltered there since the 7th of May, one young girl, M. Jenita, a class X student brought cheers to all. She had scored First division with three distinctions in Social Science, Home Science, and Manipuri subjects.
A student of Bethel High School, Moirang Purel 2 is now staying in the relief camp with her family. The relief camp is now managed by eight Nashaband Meira Paibi organisation in Wankhai. These women folk today in an emotional moment felicitated and blessed the young girl for her achievements.
Jenita broke down on being showered by the encouragement and love of the mothers and said that she is concerned about her future as now educational institutes are closed and she is worried about how she can carry forward her higher studies.
The official members of the relief camp said that eight organisations jointly maintaining the 68 inmates which also include 23 children in the relief camp and that they are supported by the Thockchom Satyabrata Singh, MLA of Yaiskul Constituency who is also the Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly.
They further stated that they are providing a regular medical check of the inmates and provide timebound food and snacks etc. There are people with high blood pressure and diabetes they informed. The people are also suffering from psychological issues, particularly young boys, they informed.
The organisers also said that the children are not able to go to school and education for the last forty days is shut which is the biggest concern for them.
The inmates who are now sheltered in this relief camp fled their homes from Moreh, Churachandpur, and Imphal East when their houses were burnt and out of fear of being attacked when the state was hit with violence from May 3.
