Arunachal Pradesh star Rupa Bayor is all set to represent India at the upcoming 8th Asian Taekwondo Poomsae Championship, scheduled for May 14-15 in Vietnam.
Bayor, currently ranked a strong 4th in Asia and 13th globally in poomsae, is a rising talent in the sport. The Asian championship is a prestigious G4 ranking event sanctioned by World Taekwondo, the international federation governing taekwondo at the Olympics.
Fine-tuning her skills for the championship, Bayor is undergoing rigorous training at the Indo-Korean Taekwondo Academy in Mumbai under the watchful eye of international coach Abhishek Dubey, himself associated with the International Olympic Committee.
Bayor is no stranger to international success. She boasts an impressive collection of medals from various World Taekwondo-sanctioned competitions. Her recent haul includes a gold medal in the senior individual poomsae category at the 2023 WT President Cup-Europe (G2) held in Turkey.
In the same year, she secured a silver medal each at the Oceania Open (G2) and WT President Cup-Oceania (G2), both held in Australia, along with a bronze at the Australia Open (G2).
Before her 2023 feats, Bayor clinched a bronze medal at the 8th Croatia Open Poomsae (G2) in 2022. She also has a silver medal from the 13th South Asian Games held in Nepal back in 2019.
With her talent, training, and impressive track record, Rupa Bayor is one to watch at the upcoming Asian Taekwondo Poomsae Championship.
