River Ranching in Chandel district of Manipur

Imphal : The Fisheries Department, Government of Manipur started the initiative of the River Ranching programme under the PMMSY scheme in 12 major rivers of Manipur under the sponsorship of the National Fisheries Development Board, Hyderabad.

On Sunday river ranching of Indian Major Carp and indigenous fish species of Manipur in Chakpi river in Chandel District was organised by the State Fisheries Department at Chandel District under the supervision of SS. Olish, MLA of Chandel Assembly Constituency, District Agriculture Officer, Chandel, District Fishery Officer, Chandel, District Fishery Officer, Thoubal, official representative of Deputy Commissioner, Chandel, village chiefs and local villagers.

Appreciating the initiative, MLA SS. Olish advised the District Level Officers to work relentlessly and accord top priority in every sector for the development of the district. She expressed happiness over the effort of the Fisheries Department for the conservation and replenishment of rivers and water bodies.
