Four trips were flown to evacuate all 110 labourers

Chandel: 110 PMGSY Workers from the Border Area of Chandel – Phaisanjang in Manipur were evacuated by BSF chopper under the initiative of the state home department, 28 sectors, Assam Rifles, Kakching, district administration Chandel, District Police Chandel, and District Administration Kakching on Monday.

Four trips were flown to evacuate all 110 labourers from Phiasanhjang Khengjoi Sub division, Chandel district administration sources said.

It is informed that these people were trapped in these interior areas of Chandel district since May 3 when violence erupted in Manipur. The evacuation was delayed because of rain and cloudy weather in the interior areas of Chandel.

Chandel deputy commissioner  Mayanglambam Rajkumar, Chandel SP P H Mahesh Narain, Chandel ADC Mohammad Firoj Khan, and Kakching SDO Okram Sandhyarani Devi also accompanied the rescue team in their evacuation operation.
