Japanese Former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was shot at a campaign event and is now confirmed dead. He was 67 and was delivering a speech at a campaign event for the ruling Liberal Democratic Party in the city of Nara in western Japan on Friday.

A suspect has been arrested following the incident and remains in custody.

I am shocked and saddened beyond words at the tragic demise of one of my dearest friends, Shinzo Abe. He was a towering global statesman, an outstanding leader, and a remarkable administrator. He dedicated his life to make Japan and the world a better place, echoes the Indian Prime Minister on social media platforms.

Shinzo Abe Japan’s longest-serving Prime Minister died at the age of 67.

It is to be noted that in Manipur the Imphal Peace Museum has an inscription signed by him stating “PEACE”.
