Silchar NIT student assault case: Hindu Mahasabha seeks high-level probe

SILCHAR: Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha’s president for Assam and the Northeast Biswadeep Gupta has demanded a high-level probe in connection with alleged assault on a student of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Silchar by senior students inside the institution premises on Friday.

A fourth semester student of the department of computer science, NIT Siddhant Paitya was allegedly beaten up by 18 senior students inside the institution campus on Friday morning. Siddhant was allegedly bullied by the attackers regarding his mother tongue and the place where he belongs from. Siddhant, who was severely injured in that incident, is under treatment at a hospital at present. An FIR was lodged by Siddhant’s father at Ghungoor police outpost based on which police began an investigation.

Reacting over the incident, ABHM’s president for Assam and the Northeast Biswadeep Gupta vociferously condemned the alleged attack on Siddhant. “Such incidents cannot be tolerated. All those involved in the attack must be sternly punished,” Biswadeep said.

He communicated with Cachar superintendent of police on Sunday and demanded a high-level inquiry into the matter. He stressed that the case be investigated impartially and strict action taken against each and everyone found involved in the crime.
