Silchar Polytechnic college student election resulted in a tense situation where police had to resort to the ‘lathi charge’. Silchar Polytechnic College student council election was held on Tuesday morning. The results were announced in the afternoon. Then the excitement began. A group of students complained that the winning students pelted the losing students with stones and a student was injured in the incident. He was immediately rushed to Silchar Medical College Hospital. The police reached the premises of the Polytechnic College after receiving information about the incident.

The police had to resort to the ‘lathi charge’ to bring the tense situation under control. Even the CRPF was deployed on the premises of the Polytechnic College. Meanwhile, Sanjeev Sinha, Principal of the Polytechnic College, said that although the election was completed smoothly, someone threw stones and injured a student in the afternoon. And with this the situation became heated.
