Households of all such localities will be provided with either solar systems or other renewable types of energy within the next six to eight months
The vast areas of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao autonomous hill districts of Assam which are devoid of normal power service through cables and wire may expect solar power soon.
This important information was disclosed by Assam Power minister Bimal Borah before the media at Guwahati on Sunday. He informed that 4.80 lakh households where power connections couldn’t be provided through cables because of the remoteness and terrain particularly in the hills of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao district and riverine areas of the state.
The minister said that households of all such localities will be provided with either solar systems or other renewable types of energy within the next six to eight months. The minister also informed that all Anganwadi Centers and Lower Primary schools numbering around nine hundred will also receive electricity within eight to ten years, for construction of substations and for connecting with cables.
