The second meeting of the Employment Working Group (EWG) under India’s G20 Presidency got underway from April 03 to 05, 2023. The meeting witnessed participation from 72 delegates from over 19 G20 member countries, 7 guest countries, and 5 International Organisations along with the Minister of State in the Ministry of Labour and Employment Sh. RameshwarTeli and the Minister of Forest and Environment of Assam were present during the inaugural session. It is the second Employment Working Group meeting organized under the sherpa track.

The G20 EWG’s second meeting witnessed focused sessions on the 3 key priority areas viz, Addressing Global Skill Gaps, Gig and Platform Economy, and Social Protection, and Sustainable Financing of Social Protection by Academic Working Group, Digital Economy Working Group, Finance Track, the G20 Entrepreneurship Research Center and the L20 and B20 groups along with a panel discussion.During the meeting reaching a consensus on ministerial releases and outcome documents was also discussed.

On the sidelines of the meeting, a yoga session was organized for the delegates. Along with a cultural programme at Mahabahu Brahmaputra River Heritage Centre to showcase Assam’s heritage and culture to the delegates. On the closing day topics such as Sustainable financing of social protection and ‘Global Skills’ will be thoroughly discussed among the participants. The FirstEmployment Working Group meeting was held in Jodhpur, Rajasthan from 2nd to 4th February 2023.
