DGPs and senior police officers of Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim attended the co-ordination meeting.
In a significant development to policing in the Northeast Region, top cops of the eight northeastern states in a first regional coordination meeting of the DGPs held in Manipur on Friday, decided to work closely together to tackle a wide range of challenges facing the region – insurgency, drug trafficking, human trafficking, arms trafficking and trafficking in other contraband items.
The all-important coordination meeting of North -East DGsP was held at the scenic resort at Sendra on Loktak Lake.
DGsP and senior police officers of Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, and Sikkim attended the coordination meeting.
Wide-ranging issues such as internal security and matters requiring inter-state coordination were discussed at length at the high-level police meeting.
Subsequently, the top cops of the Northeast Region agreed to work together in close coordination in different fields like counter-insurgency, drug trafficking, human trafficking, arms trafficking and trafficking in other contraband items.
This is the first time such a regional meeting of DGsP was held in Manipur.
